When a DAF BPV valve fails, the first quote most fleets see is for a brand-new part — and it’s a shock. But “new from the dealer” and “regenerated to OE spec” are two very different lines on a budget, and the gap is bigger than the sticker price alone suggests.
The sticker comparison
A new BPV valve from a DAF dealer typically lands around €1,800–€2,400 (roughly €2,300), before shipping and lead time. Professional regeneration is €850 per valve — about 63% less — for the standard service.
| Dealer / OEM new | Our regeneration | |
|---|---|---|
| Part price | ~€2,300 | €850 |
| Core deposit | €450–€850 (you must return the old unit) | None |
| Shipping | + ~€150 | Quoted per order |
| Lead time | 2–3 weeks | 5–9 days (express 3–4) |
| Warranty | Varies | 12 months |
What “regeneration” actually includes
Regeneration isn’t a clean-and-return. Each valve is fully stripped, rebuilt with OE-specification parts, and 100% pressure-tested with a signed test report and photos before it ships back. The result meets the same operating spec as a new unit — which is why it carries a 12-month warranty, the same kind of coverage you’d expect on a new part.
The hidden costs people miss
The headline price isn’t the whole story:
- Core deposit. Dealers and sellers generally require you to return the old or defective valve as a core — typically €450–€850 tied up until it’s returned and accepted. Regeneration uses your core, so there’s no deposit to float.
- Downtime. A 2–3 week wait for a new part is a 2–3 week hole in your schedule. A 5–9 day round trip (or 3–4 days express) gets the truck earning again sooner.
- No-deposit, pay-after. You only pay once the work is complete and you’re satisfied — there’s no upfront outlay while the valve is in transit.
When replacement still makes sense
Regeneration is the right call when the core is rebuildable — which covers the large majority of BPV, EGR, actuator and Holset turbo failures. If a unit is physically destroyed (cracked housing, catastrophic internal damage), a new part may be the only option. The honest answer comes from inspection: our diagnostics are free, and there’s no charge if a valve genuinely can’t be regenerated.
Run your own numbers
For a single valve the saving is roughly €1,450. Across a fleet replacing several valves a year, that compounds quickly — and that’s before downtime. Our ROI calculator lets you plug in your fleet size and failure rate to see the annual figure.
